The 36x89 mm rolls are accepted by a variety of LabelWriter 450 family models and several 4XL models in the same series of LabelWriter 400/500/550 category. There are also third parties selling fittings that are compatible with other thermal machines having the same roll diameter andmechanism.

What is the common part/SKU for these labels?

The numbers you are most likely to find as genuine parts are 99012 (usually indicated as S0722400 on Dymo packets) - vendors also offer replacement parts with the latter numbers marked.

How many labels come on a roll / in a pack?v

Our roll will have 1200 labels (in most retail packages there will be 2 rolls, 2400 labels, or a multi-pack of multiple rolls). Please verify the product inventory according to the pack quantity.

Are these labels direct-thermal (do they need ink/toner)?

Yes – the standard 36x89 mm Dymo compatible address labels are direct-thermal (darken with heat); thus, no ink or toner is required. That is why they are sold in endless rolls for the LabelWriter printers.

Are “compatible” (third-party) 36×89 labels safe to use — any downsides?

Compatible labels are relatively common and tend to be excellent, although there is a lot of variance in quality: adhesive strength, roll tracking, print darkness and longevity (fading) can be different than actual Dymo rolls. Other compatibles may have enhanced capabilities (e.g., water/scratch proof); however, test a single roll before embarking on print reliability to be critical of your processes. Another item is checking your printer warranty/policy.

Are there removable, permanent or durable (water-resistant) versions of 36×89 labels?

Yes – the 36x89 format is available in removable and permanent versions, and the 3689 has a few so-called durable, polypropylene/coated direct-thermal versions. Real Dymo does have lasting polypropylene lines (varied SKUs); numerous compatible brands also sell water/scratch/chemical-resistant models – be sure to read the listing to make sure you are purchasing which material/bond you want.
